The term black hole mass function (BHMF) indicates a function that yields the distribution of masses of black holes. Use of the term has increased over the past few years with the ability to observe black holes, but given the limited observation opportunities, generally is used regarding some specifics, such as the type of observation, such as the BHMF of GW events, or of quasars. It is also common for the term to be specific to some classification of black holes. Some observed terms:
