Cosmic Anisotropy Telescope

(CAT)
(1990s interferometer to measure CMB variations)

The Cosmic Anisotropy Telescope (CAT) was a 1990s interferometer to measure CMB anisotropies (variations). It was a 3-element interferometer at Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory (MRAO) near Cambridge, England. It was small for radio interferometers, with baselines in the range of 1 to 5 meters, which was appropriate for its purpose. It was in operation from 1995 until 2000 when the Very Small Array (VSA) made it obsolete.
