dark-matter-free galaxy

(galaxy showing signs of no dark matter)

A dark-matter-free galaxy (galaxy that has no dark matter) is a conception which inevitably presents itself as a possibility. Finding some would offer evidence regarding dark matter's nature (and would offer further confirmation that there is indeed something unseen causing the phenomena ascribed to dark matter). Dark-matter-free galaxy candidates have been announced (e.g., NGC 1052-DF2), but such new determinations naturally lead to efforts to confirm or contradict the claim.
