The East Asian Observatory (EAO) is an organization to operate telescopes in Hawaii on behalf of countries of East Asia. It operates the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) and Submillimeter Array (SMA) in Hawaii. The EAO is one of the projects of the East Asian Core Observatories Association (EACOA), an association of four East Asian research organizations, the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC), the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), the Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), and the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA).
