FAST (Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope) is a Radio Telescope under construction in China, begun in 2011 and completed in 2016 and is under test. It is similar to Arecibo Observatory (NAIC) but is 500m across to Arecibo's 305m. Its effective Aperture is 300m, the additional size being used to increase its ability to point, to 40° from zenith compared to Arecibo's 20°. Though it has spherical in the name, it actually includes the capability of deforming the reflector into a parabolic shape directed at its target. Current efforts are to provide nine feeds spanning 70MHz to 3GHz.
