GG Tau

(GG Tauri)
(much-studied quadruple star system)

GG Tau (or GG Tauri) is a star system combining a number of characteristics that make it useful for study. It is a quadruple system made up of two Binary Stars, and for being binaries, more accurate mass estimates can be made than otherwise. It includes a T-Tauri Star, and the entire system is surrounded by a massive Circumstellar Disk. Being close enough for good observation, it is an interesting lab for Planet Formation theories and study.
