SH0ES

(Supernova H0 for the Equation of State)
(survey to increase the accuracy of the cosmic distance ladder)

SH0ES (for Supernova H0 for the Equation of State) is a project to tighten up the cosmic distance ladder through recent and additional precision measurements of parallax, and the luminosity of Cepheid variables and Type Ia supernovae, i.e., to increase the precision of Hubble constant (H0) determinations. The "equation of state" referred to is the cosmological equation of state, i.e., that of dark energy, which affects H0. Parallaxes from Gaia are combined with new observations by Hubble Space Telescope. One H0 determination from the effort is 74.0±1.4 km/s/Mpc.
