star cloud

(lighter region of the night sky consisting of a high density of stars)

The term star cloud refers to a region of the sky that appears lighter than the rest, possibly like a light-colored nebula (in the old sense of a visibly-indistinct object), which actually consists of many stars. To qualify as a star cloud, they need not be at the same distance, i.e., it is not necessarily a stellar cluster.
