Taurus Molecular Cloud 1

(TMC-1, TMC, Taurus Molecular Cloud)
(nearby star-forming region)

The Taurus Molecular Cloud 1 (TMC-1, aka Taurus Molecular Cloud or TMC) is a nearby star-forming region (or dense core) in the constellation Taurus which is part of the Taurus-Auriga Complex. Being close to us, it is of interest for study. Taurus Molecular Cloud 2 (TMC-2) is another such region of interest within the complex, but there are many. Characteristics:

It is large enough in the sky that these low-precision coordinates apply.

I've run across these correspondences regarding designators for these nebulae but I've also seen inconsistent information so I'm not totally convinced:

TMC-1 aka LDN 1534
TMC-2 aka LDN 1529 aka Barnard 18
