Ultra-Faint Dwarf Galaxy

(UFD)
(recently discovered faint dwarf galaxies in the Local Group)

An Ultra-Faint Dwarf Galaxy is a faint Milky Way-satellite (Local Group (LG)) Dwarf Galaxy. They have been discovered in recent surveys such as Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). They are of interest because Cosmology theory predicted more satellites of larger milky-way-type galaxies than had been observed in the past, and it has been suggested that the gap between observation and theory has closed somewhat.
