ultra-fast outflow

(UFO)
(characteristic of some AGNs)

The term ultra-fast outflow (UFO) refers to a presumed characteristic of some active galactic nuclei (AGNs) with in highly blueshifted absorption lines in the AGN's X-ray and ultraviolet emission. This implies some absorbing material in front of the source with a very high radial velocity towards us. The circumstance producing this is a current topic of research.

It would not surprise me if some astrophysicist enjoyed coining a term with abbreviation UFO.
