Yohkoh

(1990s Japanese solar observatory spacecraft)

Yohkoh (Japanese for "Sunbeam") was a space solar observatory launched by Japan in 1991. It was operational until 2001 and burned on reentry in 2005. Instruments:

  • SXT "Soft X-ray Telescope"
  • HXT "Hard X-ray Telescope"
  • BCS "Bragg Crystal Spectrometer"
  • WBS "Wide Band Spectrometer"
