AstroSat

AstroSat is an Indian observatory satellite in low Earth orbit, observing ultraviolet, and X-rays (with some visible light capabilities). It was launched in 2015, completed its 5-year primary mission, and continues operation in 2023. Instruments:

• UVIT - ultraviolet imaging telescope.
• SXT - soft X-ray imaging telescope.
• LAXPC - large area X-ray proportional counter.
• CZTI - cadmium zinc telluride imager (a hard X-ray imager).
• SSM - scanning sky monitor (X-ray).
• CPM - charged particle monitor (collects information necessary for protecting the other instruments).
