Gemini Planet Imager

(infrared instrument to overcome signal noise imaging exoplanets)

The Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) is Near Infrared (NIR) imager installed in Gemini South (Gemini Observatory) aimed at detecting the Infrared (IR) light from young Gas Giant Extra Solar Planets. It saw first light in 2013 and began regular operation in 2014.
