(infrared instrument to overcome signal noise imaging exoplanets)

The Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) is Near-infrared imager installed in Gemini South (Gemini Observatory) aimed at detecting the Infrared light from young Gas Giant Extra-Solar Planets. It saw First Light in 2013 and began regular operation in 2014.
