INTEGRAL

INTEGRAL (for International Gamma-ray Astrophysics Laboratory) is a decommissioned European Space Agency (ESA) gamma-ray telescope in space, launched in 2002, operating until February 2025, with expectation of reentering Earth atmosphere in 2029. Instruments included:

• IBIS ("Imager on board INTEGRAL Satellite").
• SPI ("Spectrometer on INTEGRAL").
• ACS ("AntiCoincidence Shield").
• JEM-X ("Joint European X-ray Monitor").
• OMC ("Optical Monitoring Camera").
• IREM ("INTEGRAL Radiation Environment Monitor").

The IBAS (INTEGRAL Burst Alert System) was a system for prompt alerting of potential observers of gamma-ray bursts. IBIS had two sets of detectors, ISGRI ("INTEGRAL soft gamma-ray imager") and PICsIT ("pixellated imaging CsI telescope", CsI for thallium-activated cesium-iodide scintillator).
