Local Volume

(LV)
(region around the Local Group)

The term Local Volume (LV) is used to describe the region of space around the Local Group (LG). Criteria varies but typically just a distance is used, i.e., a sphere centered on the Milky Way. Distances in the range of 10Mpc to 20Mpc have been used. In any case, it is within the Virgo Supercluster and it includes many more galaxies than the Local Group.
