magnetic flux

(Φ)
(measure of magnetism passing through a surface)

Magnetic flux (Φ) is a measure of a magnetic field in relation to a defined surface. Specifically it is the magnetic flux density (B) passing through the surface, measured at each point normal to the surface (perpendicular to it, i.e., measuring the field's normal components). The SI unit is the weber (Wb) and the CGS unit, the maxwell (Mx).
