orbitize

(planet orbit-fitting software for direct image observations)

Orbitize (or orbitize!) is a Python package to fit orbit characteristics to extra-solar planet direct imaging data. Well-known methods are used to determine some characteristics of orbits once there is data covering a complete orbit, but an orbit large enough to allow direct imaging may require years to acquire this, potentially more than a decade. Orbitize offers an algorithm named Orbits for the Impatient (OFTI) as well as an alternative MCMC-based method to determine likely orbits from available data.
