(PdBI Arcsecond Whirlpool Survey)
(survey of GMCs in M51a)
PAWS (the PdBI Arcsecond Whirlpool Survey)
was a Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI) study of carbon monoxide(1-0) spectral lines in Whirlpool Galaxy,
a grand-design spiral galaxy that is convenient for such study.
The survey's arcsecond angular resolution allowed resolution
of clouds down to a few tens of parsecs, small enough to
identify giant molecular clouds (GMCs).
