Schiefspiegler

(type of off-axis reflector telescope)

A Schiefspiegler telescope is an off-axis variation on a Cassegrain reflector telescope laid out so the secondary mirror is not in line with the primary and blocks none of its incoming light. This reduces diffraction patterns but increases coma and astigmatism. For this reason, the design is typically used for telescopes with a long focal length, which reduces the aberrations.
