The Schrödinger-Poisson equation (aka Schrödinger-Newton equation) is the Schrödinger equation (a wave equation describing the quantum-mechanical characteristics of a particle or interaction of particles) with an additional term for gravity. The latter term represents the gravitational field in a manner defined by a Poisson equation, a type of equation capable of describing a field associated with an inverse square law (such as gravity). The Schrödinger-Poisson equation can be of use in cases where both quantum effects and gravitation are significant to the phenomenon of interest, such as the fuzzy dark matter (FDM) model.
