T-type star

(T, T dwarf, T-class star)
(brown dwarf with a temperature in the vicinity of 1000 K)

A T-type star is a star within the T-class, a spectral class indicating stars with methane spectral lines and a temperature in the 700-1300 K range, which encompasses some cool brown dwarfs (T dwarfs). The spectral energy distribution (SED) peaks in the mid-infrared range. T-type stars are dim and the number known has been low, but should be increasing with modern equipment. A 2015 list of brown dwarfs includes 794 T dwarfs.

Another type of star commonly mentioned is a T-Tauri star, which is entirely different.
