A warp (galaxy warp) is a bend in the disk of spiral galaxy or other disk galaxy, such galaxies generally being thought of as having a flat disk. The existence of warps presents a challenge to modern astrophysics, but generally attributed to gravitational interaction with nearby satellite galaxies. The Milky Way has at least one warp.
