The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) is a group of universities collaborating on operating observatories. It was formed in 1957 by the universities, California, Chicago, Harvard, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, and currently includes around fifty institutions.
