(US government sponsored solar observatory)

The National Solar Observatory (NSO) is the USA's public research facility to investigate the Sun. Much of its operation is at two sites, the Sunspot Solar Observatory (SSO) on Sacramento Peak in New Mexico, and the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) at Haleakala Observatory in Hawaii. It the past, the NSO operated a solar telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO) in Arizona.
