CHEOPS

(Characterizing Exoplanet Satellite)
(space telescope in development to measure radii of exoplanets)

CHEOPS (for Characterizing Exoplanet Satellite) is a space telescope under construction by the European Space Agency (ESA) to determine the radii of Extra Solar Planets. Plans are to launch it in 2018 for a 3.5-year mission. It is a 30cm Ritchey-Chrétien Telescope (RCT) that aims to take accurate measurements of known Transiting Planets of known mass, to enable estimation of their density, e.g., to classify them as Rocky Planets or Gas Planets.
