Darwin

(past plan for space telescopes acting as an interferometer)

Darwin was a European Space Agency plan for several spacecraft, each with a 3-4 meter infrared reflector telescope, together to serve as an interferometer in space for studying extra-solar planets through direct imaging, using nulling to avoid light from the host star. They would be deployed at Sun-Earth Lagrangian point L2. Studies for the project ended in 2007 with no plans to continue.
