Morphological Catalogue of Galaxies

(MCG, Morphological Catalog of Galaxies)
(1960s catalog from Palomar plates)

The Morphological Catalogue of Galaxies (or "catalog", abbreviated MCG) is a Russian catalog of 30,000+ galaxies assembled in the 1960s-1970s, from inspection of the plates of the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS) carried out in the 1950s. The goal was every galaxy of magnitude 15 or brighter.
