Astronomical Catalog

(lists of observed astronomical bodies and their characteristics)

Astronomical Catalogs, i.e., lists of observed phenomena (stars, galaxies, Quasars (QSO), etc.) are assembled and enlarged for various purposes. Examples:

Recent and current Astronomical Surveys often produce their own catalogs, often using a Survey-based Designator for its identifiers.

Mock Catalogs have been produced: artificial catalogs of realistic-but-nonexistent objects, to assist with modeling.
