QUEST

(sixteen square-degree survey camera)

QUEST is a wide-angle survey CCD camera with which the entire sky can be scanned in three days, intended to look for changes (transients) within such a time frame. It is currently on the La Silla Observatory (LSO) ESO Schmidt Telescope, and is used for surveys such as LaSilla-QUEST Variability Survey. QUEST is named for the joint venture that produced it, the Quasar Equatorial Survey Team, which included Yale University, Indiana University, and Centro de Investigaciones de Astronomia (CIDA), Venezuela. It was originally used for the QUEST Large-Area Equatorial Survey for some years beginning about 1998, on the 1-m CIDA Schmidt Telescope at Llano del Hato National Observatory (ONLH) in Venezuela. After that, it was used for the Palomar-Quest Sky Survey on the Palomar 48 Inch Telescope.
